GUSTAVUS SWIFT, JR (1881 - 1943); meat packer, vice chairman of the board of Swift & Co. Son of Gustavus Swift Sr., founder of Swift and Co. Upon his father’s death in 1903 he, along with his brothers developed Swift & Co. into a $1 billion a year business. Machine punch cancellations not affecting signature. Very fine.

1931, New York. Stock certificate for 100 shares of the Irving Trust Company. Issued to the Transport Trading Company Inc. Signed on verso by P. A. S. FRANKLIN (1871 - 1939). Shipping executive, acknowledged as the "Dean of the shipping industry." When J. P. Morgan interests completed the formation of the International Mercantile Marine in 1903, Franklin served as a vice president and director and in 1915, he was appointed receiver to the insolvent company. During the first World War Franklin served as the chairman of the Shipping Control Committee and, as such, was the supreme director of movements of all military cargoes during the crucial years of the conflict. Perferation cancellations not affecting Franklin's bold signature. Fine.

Issued to and signed on verso by Edward F. Swift. (d. 1932). A son of Gustavus Swift Sr, the founder of Swift and Company, Edward served as president of Compania Swift Internacional, S.A. and Swift Refrigerator Transportation Co. He also served as vice president of Swift and Company and a director of numerous corporations. Machine punch cancelled. Fine.
