1905, Nebraska. Stock certificate for 1000 shares. Green/Black. Vignette of a large bridge at bottom center. Signed at bottom right as president by Stuyvesant Fish,(1851 - 1923); Railroad executive. Fish was a member of a politically prominent New York family, his father having served as Ulysses Grant's Secretary of State. Fish himself was a prominent and successful businessman, holding executive positions in many companies. While he was President of the Illinois Central Railroad (1887 - 1906), it became one of the most prosperous railroads in the U.S. Lightly pen cancelled in red including a check mark affecting three letters of Fish's signature. Very Fine.

Signed as President by Jay Gould (1836 - 1892) Railroad magnate; Financier; Stock market manipulator. Issued to and signed on verso by William T. Hart, one of Gould's earliest railroad business partners. Minor paper loss at lower left and right corners. Ink spot affecting the R in the company title. Overall age toning, very good. Ink cancelled through Gould's signature and shows smudging. Hart's signature has bleed-through from this on verso.

One Share of the New Arkansas and Texas Land Company Grant
1833, Texas. Share certificate #3878 for 1 share “or one eleven thousand two hundredth part, estimated as equal to 4017 6/7 Acres, more or less, of an in that certain tract of land situate in Texas...”. Black. The lands involved are described in detail in the text detailing a West Texas tract which had been part of a large empresario grant originally awarded to John Charles Beales and Jose Manuel Royuela for colonizing the property. The company acquired the lands which were held “for the Benefit of The New Arkansas & Texas Land Company, by Thomas Ludlow Ogden, Daniel Jackson and Edward Curtis as Trustees. All there have signed at the bottom. A fine, early Texas Land Company share. In excellent condition.
