Issued to and signed on verso by DAVID HARRISON HOUGHTALING, tea merchant, born in Kingston, N.Y., May 17, 1834. After leaving his books in Kingston academy, the young man found a clerkship in New York city in 1850. A hardworking, honest youth, he made excellent progress, and in 1860 began the importation of tea on his own account. A splendid merchant, he has always been successful and has been prosperously engaged in this trade until the present time. A man of fine character, he has been elected a director in The Bank of North America, The United States Life Insurance Co., and The Third National Bank, of this city, a trustee of The Franklyn Trust Co. of Brooklyn, and director of the Richmond Railway & Electric Co., and many other corporations. He is a Republican in political faith, and served two terms as Park Commissioner under Mayor Seth Low, but steadily declined public office afterward . Stamp and Punch cancelled and very fine.

Issued to and signed on verso by Russell Sage (1816-1906). Banker; Financier; U.S. Congressman. As the originator of "put and call options", Sage greatly changed the way speculators played the stock market. Among America's most powerful and wealthy bankers, he financed Jay Gould and made a vast fortune on the latter's stock manipulations. "Sage was one of the shrewdest and most conservative of all great financiers." (DAB) At one time he is said to have had $27,000,000 out on call loans. At the time of his death he left a fortune worth an estimated $70,000,000. Punch and stamped cancelled.

His skill for finance won him numerous promotions within the company until in 1837, during the financial panic, he formed his own company in New York with his only tangible asset being that of his agency in the U.S. for the Rothschilds. Morgan & Co…my true and lawful attorneys…" John Pierpont Morgan, Jr. (1867 - 1943). Born into one of America's most fabulously wealthy families John Pierpont Morgan Jr. followed his father into the family business becoming the senior partner of J. P. Morgan & Company upon his father's death in 1913. Considered by many to be the most powerful financial figure in the country after his father died, by 1933 he and his firm was reported to control one quarter of the total assets in the United States. An active and generous philanthropist, he gave away millions. An interesting Morgan and Company association with a scarce Morgan, Jr. signature.
