(a stockbrockerage firm founded by his uncle) in 1881, Bache received an interest in the business in 1886. In 1892, the firm's name was changed to J. S. Bache and Co. From the outset, the firm was successful financing numerous enterprises and becoming one of the best known and most active banking and brokerage houses in America.
